A Declaration of Independence for Our Time
The unanimous Declaration of the Patriots of Northeast Wisconsin,in Greenleaf assembled,during the dry summer of 2009.
When in the Course of Human Events,it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with their Governor,and to assume among the Peoples of the Earth,the free and independent Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them,a decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to this Declaration.
We hold these Truths to be self-evident,that all Men are created equal,that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,that among these are Life,Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness in Wisconsin. —That to develop these rights,State Governments have been instituted within the Union,still deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed,—That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends,it the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it through Elections,and to institute new Government to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence,indeed,will dictate that Government Officials should not be changed for transient Causes:and accordingly all experience hath shewn,that Mankind are more disposed to suffer,while evils are sufferable,than to right themselves by abolishing their Elected Officials from the Office to which they have been elected. But when a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations evinces a Design to reduce them under absolute Despotism,it is their Right,it is their Duty,to remove from office such Officials,and to provide new Officials as Guards for their future Security. –Such has been the patient Sufferance of these Citizens,and such is now the Necessity which constrains them to alter their former Decisions regarding Governance. The history of the present King of Wisconsin is a history of repeated Injuries and Usurpations,all having in direct Object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over us. To prove this,let Facts be submitted to a candid World.
King Jim has refused his Assent to Laws,the most wholesome and necessary for the Public Good.
He has called together the Legislative Body at times unusual,behind closed Doors,and distant from the Eyes and Ears of the Media and the Public,for the sole purpose of deceiving the People.
He has appointed as his Legal Counsel an individual closely related to a powerful state Senator of his own Party,and who is not licensed to practice Law in this State.
He has appointed as Judges over us those who have contributed the most to his Campaigns.
He thwarts the will of the People by undermining the Sacred Foundation of our Society,Marriage and the Family,granting to domestic partners the rights and privileges of Marriage.
He has led a junket to distant Spain to buy a Train of which you have heard him boast,while Jobs were lost on Sheboygan’s Coast. He covered this up with lots of Fibs but Truth be told,there were no Bids.
He silently supported the Unions and sat by stoically as Mercury Marine sped from Fond du Lac on her way to the quiet Waters of distant Oklahoma,disaffecting many of gainful Employment here in this State. That in the end Mercury Marine may stay is not the Work of his Office.
When Times were good he saved not a Penny for future Exigencies,and now with reckless abandon raids Funds dedicated for certain Purposes to satisfy his Desire to spend the people’s Resources.
He has robbed $66 million from the Transportation Fund,which had been enriched by gas tax Collections extracted from the People,and used it for other Purposes.
He has raided $54 million from the Petroleum Inspection Fund,which had been supplied with Revenue from additional Taxes upon our purchases of Gas.
He has transferred $38 million from the Recycling Fund,which was supplied with its Abundance by Businesses and Farmers,who suffer now in Markets depleted of Vigor.
He has confiscated cell phone Taxes intended for Improvement in our 911 System,and then has increased the phone Tax to cover his Tracks.
He has gouged Millions from sundry additional segregated Funds,all for Uses not intended,for the sole Purpose of balancing his extravagant Budget. Thus he has used one-time Resources to cover ongoing Expenses,assuring irreparable Damage to future Budgets.
With a budget Deficit of $6 billion,he has increased Spending by over $3 billion and raised taxes on our suffering Populace by over $2 billion.
He promised to protect the Pockets of the vast Majority of our People,but has struck us hard by raising property Taxes,gas Taxes,cigarette Taxes,a hospital Tax,nursing home bed Tax,and even Taxes on Music Downloads.
He has arranged to increase the Fees on every activity of the People of this State. Birth,death,and marriage certificate Fees have been increased. There are greater Fees for securing a child care License,a teenage Work Permit,or a Phone Line. Fees for Boat Registrations,handgun Record Checks,bobcat hunting Permits,and elk hunting Permits have likewise been increased. Surely the People become less free every time the King extracts a Fee!
He has made us unsafe by releasing Prisoners to our Streets and Communities.
He has made Alliances with Groups among us to the Harm of the Body Politic:He has placated the teachers Union by denying Parents access to virtual and choice Schools;he has enabled an Indian Tribe to secure its Liquor License directly from his Offices,making it impossible for local Jurisdictions to secure Funds rightfully owed them;he has favored Trial Lawyers at every turn.
He has caused our Municipalities to endure higher Costs in the Construction of their Needs.
In every Stage of these Oppressions we have petitioned for Redress in the most humble Terms:Our repeated Petitions have been answered only be repeated Injury. A King whose Character is thus marked by every Act which may define a Tyrant,is unfit to be the Ruler of a free People.
Nor have we been Wanting in Attentions to our King and his liberal Brethren. We have warned them from Time to Time of Attempts to extend an unwarrantable Jurisdiction over us. We have appealed to their native Justice and Magnanimity,but they have been deaf to the Voice of Justice and of Consanguinity. We must,therefore,hold them as we hold the rest of Mankind,Enemies in War,in Peace Friend.
We,therefore,the Citizens of Northeast Wisconsin,in Greenleaf,Assembled,appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World for the Rectitude of our intentions,do,in the Name and by Authority of the good People of this State,solemnly publish and declare,that we as a People are,and of Right ought to be free and Independent Individuals;that we are absolved from all Allegiance to King Jim,and that all political Connection between him and the People of Wisconsin,is and of Right ought to be totally dissolved;and that as free and independent Citizens,we have the Right to retain our Profits and Gains,without the reaching Hand of the King and his Cohorts in Governance. And for the support of this Declaration,we mutually pledge to each other our Lives,our Fortunes,our sacred Honor,and our Willingness to vote the Conservative Cause in the next Election!
